CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Police will be hosting an Emergency Assistance Center Thursday to help those traumatized by violence following Monday's shooting which killed three people on the Far Southwest Side.

“The focus is making sure the victims of violence are able to get services they need so they can begin to heal, they can begin to restore their lives,” Chicago Police Director of Community Policing Glen Brooks said.

The Emergency Assistance Center will be at Monarcas Academy, located at 58th and Homan.

It is open to anyone impacted by violence, not just Monday's shooting.

“They will be offering counseling, assistance with crime victim compensation applications, domestic violence services, youth services and referrals to additional resources,” 14th Ward Alderwoman Jeylú Gutiérrez said. “Please take advantage of these services if you or someone you know needs help during these difficult times.”

Three men were killed in Monday's shooting near 59th and St. Louis. Five other people were also shot and wounded.

The investigation continues.
