CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago’s interim police superintendent is recommending the firing of a police officer who shot and killed a 13-year old boy two years ago.

Interim Chicago Police Supt. Eric Carter’s recommendation that Officer Eric Stillman be fired flies in the face of the recommendation of former Supt. David Brown that Stillman just face a suspension.

Police had said that 13-year-old Adam Toledo was running from police with a gun in the middle of the night in Little Village but dropped the weapon just before starting to raise his hands and turn towards police, that’s when the boy was shot.

Interim Supt. Carter said Officer Stillman violated seven department policies, including failing to use de-escalation techniques.
