CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A lawsuit against the Chicago Public Schools alleges the sexual assault of a student by an administrator at Greater Lawndale School for Justice was allowed to go on for years and was ignored by school officials.
The alleged victim said it started in 2013 when she was 15 and continued for three years. She was allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulted by the Dean of Students Brian Crowder.
He was removed in 2021, when CPS officials say they were made aware of the allegations and he was later charged with sexual assault.
The lawsuit said the student had two abortions. Crowder is alleged to have posed as her step-father at a clinic. The girl, according to the lawsuit, reported the alleged abuse to a teacher.
It also says others were aware of how much time she was spending in Crowder’s office and made jokes about it.
In a statement to CBS 2, CPS said: "Chicago Public Schools (CPS), prioritizes the safety and well-being of our students. We take seriously our responsibility to ensure all employees act in the best interest of our students. The District does not comment on pending investigations or litigation. Our CPS team follows District policies and procedures as we respond to issues."
