CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Chicago Public Schools security guard is charged with sexually assaulting a student last year at a South Side high school.
Prosecutors alleged that 29-year-old Tywain Carter preyed on a new student, initially telling the girl and her mother he would look after her. Among Carter’s duties was to occasionally remove students from classrooms for various reasons.
It’s alleged that on multiple occasions he told a teacher that he needed to remove her to “acclimate” the student. According to prosecutors, he would take the girl to a computer lab and sexually assault her.
The Sun Times reports the girl came forward after another student told her she was abused by Carter.
Cook County Judge Mary Marubio told Carter he used a position of trust and authority to have access to the child.
Bond was set at $20,000 with Carter needing to post $2,000.
