CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) --The head of the Chicago Transit Authority says the agency is making great strides in improving reliability and safety across the system, but he know they have far to go on some things.
CTA President Dorval Carter said the buses and trains run on time and more frequently when the new hires there making complete their training and take the control probably by year's end and he says crime is down on the CTA, but he knows many people are still afraid and they must do an even better job.
"The police department has added resources to the mass transit unit that support CTA, but at the end of the day, I recognize that we need to be in constant communication with the police department to make them aware of our concerns and to seek whatever support they are capable of providing us."
Carter says the 30,000 cameras throughout the system are having an impact too.
