(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A poll of Republican voters ahead of Tuesday’s Primary Election shows State Senator Darren Bailey still leading the field of candidates for Governor and Mundelein Attorney Kathy Salvi as the top contender for the U.S. Senate.
The final poll this cycle, conducted by the Ogden and Fry firm, reveals lawmaker Darren Bailey with a big lead, 45% to 21%, over high tech businessman Jesse Sullivan. Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin, the well-funded former front-runner trails with 17% in the poll. There are three other candidates in that race to face incumbent Democrat J.B. Pritzker.
With backing from billionaire Ken Griffin, Aurora Mayor Richard Irvin once looked like the odds-on favorite to win the Republican nomination for Governor. But after being hit from all sides, including some tactical strikes by Democrats, the latest Ogden and Fry poll of GOP voters show Irvin in third place. Now, Bailey has Donald Trump’s endorsement and Ken Griffin plans on leaving Illinois.
In the race to challenge Democratic U.S. Senator Tammy Duckworth, Mundelein Lawyer Kathy Salvi leads among GOP voters surveyed, with 38% to Peggy Hubbard’s 22%.
In the GOP race for Secretary of State, State Representative Dan Brady is well ahead of John Milheiser, 69% to 31%. And, the race for Attorney General looks like a statistical toss up between Steve Kim and Thomas DeVore.
