(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- If last week’s record 11 tornadoes in the Chicago area have you wanting to get better prepared for severe weather, this is the time to do it.

During Severe Weather Preparedness Week, the National Weather Service is holding a tornado drill Wednesday morning. At 11 a.m., it will activate emergency radio signals -- but not the tornado sirens that got a workout last Tuesday night.

Each weekday focuses on a particular weather issue: tornadoes, hail, lightning, wind and flooding.

The Chicago area almost saw all of those elements when it went from record high last Monday of 71 degrees and dropped 54 degrees in less than a day.
