Dead body found in Lake Michigan, near North Avenue Beach, police say

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Police pulled a body from Lake Michigan, near North Avenue beach Tuesday morning.

Police said the body of a man was recovered from the lake around 6:35 a.m., at North Avenue.

CPD's Marine Unit said the man, believed to be in his 40s, was found between the sand and the water, closer to the shore.

Officers weren't immediately sure how long the man had been in the lake, but noted his body was pretty-well decomposed.

The man's name was not released. CPD and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating.
