(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Student journalists at DePaul University say they're concerned after newspapers containing a story about the school's budget gap vanished.
On April 9, student newspaper The DePaulia published a front-page story detailing an impending budget shortfall at the school.
Editor-in-Chief Nadia Carolina Hernandez said the papers started disappearing, with some saying the editions were being dumped in recycling bins.
Students have reached out to university public safety officials for an explanation, she said.
“If it means that we have to try to nudge officials to give us answers then we'll just continue doing that. it's just part of the role we play on campus,” Hernandez said.
A DePaul University spokesperson tells Block Club Chicago that “no one issued a request for newspapers to be removed or destroyed.”
