Investigators in Des Plaines believe a condo fire that sent seven people to the hospital back in May was arson.
Fire Chief Matt Matzl says they believe a third floor resident of the building near Laurel and Harding was responsible, but he has died.
Chief Matzl says 36-year-old Taner Teymur Bayramli died from his injuries from the May 6 fire before investigators could interview him.
Matzl says they found video of Bayramli buying gasoline in a container days before the fire at a nearby gas station.
Police Chief David Anderson says Bayramli also moved his passports, computer and other belongings to his car.
Investigators are not done with this case and don’t believe Nicor or the building management bear any responsibility.
They also think Bayramli acted alone.
The brick three-story building remains boarded up and uninhabitable.
The fire department says the other people hospitalized from the fire have all been released.
