
DES PLAINES, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Charges have been filed against a Des Plaines man for a crash last month that killed a father and daughter.
Diomedes Morales Buncen, 71 was cited for two traffic offenses, Improper Lane Usage and Driving on the Sidewalk, according to Des Plaines Police.
Police said around noon on November 27 when Buncen, travelling Eastbound on Northwest Highway, crossed over the Westbound lanes, jumped a curb and hit the father and daughter, Neal Greenfield, 80 of Skokie, and Kimberly Karsen, 42 of Arlington Heights.
They had just walked out of a restaurant. Both later died.
Buncen, who had two children in his SUV, said he was having a medical problem when he lost control. He was injured as well. The SUV damaged the restaurant building.
Police said he does have an unspecified medical condition, but the can not disclose details for privacy reasons.
They say hospital staff would not tell them whether the condition was a contributing factor, but it has been confirmed that no drugs or alcohol played a role, according to police.
