Discovery of Joliet homeless man's body has triggered a death investigation

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A startling discovery Tuesday night has triggered a death investigation involving a homeless man in Joliet.

The police and fire departments in Joliet responded to reports of a body found in the pump house at the US Steel property at 941 Collins Street.


Officials say a group of four adults were exploring the property when they discovered a body floating in the flooded pump house.

The body was reportedly in advanced stages of decomposition.

On Wednesday evening, the Joliet Fire Department announced that the Will County
Coroner's Office had identified the body as Warren Baker, 44.

Baker was homeless and had been reported missing on May 13 by a family member who last saw him on April 28.
