The United States Attorney's Office Northern District of Illinois tapped to help federal trade fraud task force

The Department of Justice has tapped the United States Attorney's Office Northern District of Illinois to be a lead partner in prosecuting cases brought by its Trade Fraud Task Force.

The Department of Justice selected the U.S. Attorney's Office in Chicago to be a lead partner in the prosecution of importers, purchasers and other parties who seek the defraud the United States by smuggling goods into the country without paying lawful duties on the products.

The DOJ is encouraging anyone with information about trade fraud schemes to file a False Claims Act case with U.S. Attorney's Office.

Other agencies on the Trade Fraud Task Force include the Department of Homeland Security and the Environmental Protection Agency.
