DOLTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Some residents of Dolton demanded transparency from the embattled mayor during a village board meeting Monday night.

The meeting was packed and residents lined up to call out the mayor, Tiffany Henyard, for overspending, the budget deficit and secrecy.

"I'm asking that you either step back or the trustees from the Village of Dolton vote you out, because you are no good for the residents of this community," former Dolton Trustee Valerie Stubbs said.

The mayor responded.

"There's so much hatred in the world that it amazes me how people can get together and come to a board meeting and just have hate in their heart," said Henyard.

Henyard vetoed a resolution passed by the trustees calling for financial records and an FBI investigation.

She said it was approved during what she called a "secret squirrel meeting," which is in violation of the Open Meetings Act.
