(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A new email phishing scam has hit a sour note with music-lovers.

While it may be music to your ears at first, a nationwide email offering a free baby grand piano is fake. Someone pretending to be a real estate agent says a client has sold their home and has decided to leave their piano behind for a free giveaway.

Naturally, they say it’s “first come, first served,” thereby encouraging people to race for this amazing offer without thinking it through.

To avoid being played, always look at the sender’s email address.

Never give personal information or send money to a stranger, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
