(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady says a booster shot for those already vaccinated is unlikely - at least in the fall.

As the city of Chicago is pushing the vaccine for those who haven't taken it yet - Health Commissioner Dr. Allison Arwady was asked about the likelihood of a booster for the hundreds of thousands who have already been vaccinated.

"I don't think we're going to be doing boosters in the fall, for example.  I think if we did need this, this would be something further off. But the way we can hopefully not even have to do that is getting more people vaccinated now."

Dr. Arwady was at Theater Wit on Belmont - where vaccines were being given, with a backdrop of puppets, a circus arts performer - and a guitar player wearing a very, very tall ball gown.

Dr. Arwady means work getting more people to get vaccinated.

That includes people over 65, she said. Another group that needs to pick up the pace of vaccination is the 18-to-35 age group, she said.
