AURORA (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A non-profit health care provider will be back in an Aurora park Friday giving flu shots to people.
Dr. Kate Sunderbruch, medical director of VNA Health Care, said the drive-through event is an easy way to get your flu vaccination.
"They drive up. We have nursing staff on hand and support staff that will have a short amount of paperwork for them to fill out,” she explained Wednesday. “Then, they’ll pull up, present their arm, the nurse will give the vaccination and they will move on."
This week's event will be at Phillips Park in Aurora from noon to 4 p.m. Friday.
Sunderbruch said flu shots are especially important this year, to avoid having outbreaks of flu competing with COVID-19.
“It’s really important to keep everyone as healthy as possible,” the doctor said.
Flu Shots Friday will be held every Friday in Aurora through October, alternating mornings and afternoons from week to week.
Last week, 60 to 70 shots were given, but Dr. Sunderbruch says there’s additional supply if more people show up.
