CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Chicago police officer is recovering after being hit by a car while working in South Shore overnight.
The officer was part of a response from Chicago Police to break up a large gathering of people near 75th and Phillips. It was about 1:30 a.m. in the morning after Halloween when the department said a white sedan hit the officer in the leg and drove away.
The officer was treated and released by paramedics. No one is in custody.
High winds may have kept the department from using one of its helicopters to search for the vehicle.
Police have not provided any other details about the car or its driver.
