Driver killed in overnight Dan Ryan crash: ISP

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An overnight three-car crash on the Outbound Dan Ryan Expressway left one person dead and resulted in a five-hour closure.

Illinois State Police said troopers responded right before 12:30 a.m. to a three-car crash in outbound lanes, at 95th Street. Authorities' preliminary investigation revealed one car was rear-ended by another.


The driver of the rear-ended car suffered grave injuries and eventually died at an area hospital. The driver who initiated the crash was hurt and transported to an area hospital.

The involvement of the third vehicle was not specified by the ISP.

Investigation of the crash lasted a little over five hours. The outbound lanes were  reopened just after 5:30 a.m.

State Police did not provide any other details.
