Driver killed in rear-end crash on Bishop Ford: ISP

DOLTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An overnight rear-end crash on the outbound Bishop Ford Freeway left one person dead.

According to the Illinois State Police, the two-vehicle accident occurred at around 2 a.m. in the outbound lanes near Dolton Road. ISP’s initial investigation revealed that a car rear-ended a tow truck.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was ejected. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have yet to provide any more details.

A portion of the outbound Bishop Ford was shut down for more than five hours, with all traffic being diverted off at 130th Street. It was reopened at around 7:40 a.m.

Illinois State Police will continue to investigate the crash.
