(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A DuPage County jail detainee has been accused of killing another inmate by supplying him fentanyl-laced heroin in the jail.

Authorities announced one count of drug-induced homicide against Derichard P. Brown, 22, of Maywood, in connection to the July 19 death of 48-year-old Percy Walker.

A prosecutor told a DuPage County Judge video surveillance shows Brown and Walker conducting a hand-to-hand transaction July 19, with Walker seen snorting a substance, according to the Daily Herald.

A few minutes later, Walker was in a state of distress, prosecutors said, but Brown allegedly prevented another inmate from calling for help.

Walker, of Chicago, was in jail awaiting trial on charges including burglary, retail theft and aggravated assault.

Brown had been admitted to the jail June 25 on car theft charges. His next court date is April 5, and his bond was set at $750,000.
