SPRING GROVE, Ill. (WBBM Newsradio) – Eight people were injured Sunday afternoon in a crash involving a Spring Grove police officer in McHenry County.
The collision happened around 2:00 p.m. at Illinois Route 12 and Spring Grove Road. The officer was responding to assist another law enforcement agency at the time, according to the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
One person was airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford, and four others were taken to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital. Authorities did not immediately release information about the victims’ conditions.
Video from the scene showed at least three damaged vehicles, including a Kia SUV and a Spring Grove police SUV.
The intersection was temporarily closed but reopened later Sunday. The sheriff’s office Major Crash Investigation Unit is investigating.
