
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Fully vaccinated people soon will be able to breathe a sigh of relief — indoors and without a mask – under new CDC guidance.
WBBM Newsradio’s Nancy Harty talked to people about the change at a north suburban vaccination site.
Margaret Martinez was relieved to hear the new guidance as she left a Cook County-sponsored vaccination site in Des Plaines with her son, who received his first dose. Kids 12 and up just became eligible to received Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine.
Also elated was Jennifer Brooks of Park Ridge, who was taking her daughters, Julia and Marion, for the shots.
“That’s so exciting,” said Brooks, who misses seeing peoples’ full expressions in public.
Dr Kiran Joshi of Cook County Health said they’re reviewing the new mask guidance but want to move quickly and thoughtfully in lifting any requirements.
Similarly, Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker said his administration was moving to align with the new CDC guidance.
