(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Christmas film favorite celebrating its 20th anniversary is being transformed with the music of a live symphony orchestra.

Whether you've seen it once or 20 times, “Elf” has become a holiday classic and this weekend. During "Elf in Concert," an 80-piece orchestra plays the score as the movie plays on a 40-foot screen.

Conductor John Jesenski says often, moviegoers don't pay attention too much to the score. This is a chance to see the music played live and learn about the importance of film scores.

“I really do love that orchestras have really embraced this new way for people come in and experience classical music, and I’m glad that people are coming out for it,” he said.

The film will screen at the Auditorium Theater on Saturday and at the Rosemont Theater in Rosemont on Sunday.
