ELGIN (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Elgin's postponed 4th of July celebration is being turned into an End of Summer Bash that takes place tonight.
Like many suburbs, Elgin canceled its 4th of July festivities following the mass shooting in Highland Park. Tonight will be the make-up event.
Starting in the late afternoon, there'll be a variety of food trucks parked along Grove Avenue at Festival Park, and then, tonight, there'll be a concert featuring the Modern Day Romeos and, after 9 p.m., a fireworks display.
Special Events Coordinator Kate O'Leary said there is no plan right now to make the End of Summer Bash a yearly thing.
