(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A boil order has been lifted in west suburban Elmhurst following repairs to a broken water main, officials announced.
The order in parts of Elmhurst took effect on Wednesday and affected residents who live in an area bordered by Park Avenue to the north, South York Street to the west, East Butterfield Road to the south and Interstate 294 to the east.
Officials said that after several days of testing, a certified laboratory confirmed that water samples are free of coliform bacteria.
The water boil order then was lifted on Sunday.
If Elmhurst residents haven't used water in their homes during the boil order, officials recommended running each faucet in the home for two to three minutes before consuming the water.
