(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Emerson Elementary School in Elmhurst reported 24 new cases of coronavirus in the last three weeks.
It's more than any other school in District 205, including York High School, which had 23 new cases in the same time frame with more than six times the number of students.
COVID metrics show the district averaged 8 new cases a week during October. But in the last month, that number has jumped to an average of 40 new cases per week.
The city of Elmhurst is seeing a similar surge, according to DuPage County health statistics.
Metrics show 151 new coronavirus cases last week. That is the highest weekly total since early January.
