The Civilian Office of Police Accountability confirms that one of its employees was arrested this morning by the Chicago Police Department and released without charges.

Chicago police say the arrest was made about 7:45 a.m. in the 2900 block of South Michigan and was connected to a burglary in the Loop in the 100 block of North State Street on Aug. 10.

Looting occurred early that morning in that area, at the Zara store and at other businesses nearby.

COPA, a watchdog agency that reviews the actions of police officers, says it's investigating and promises "if misconduct has occurred, the employee will be held accountable."

A COPA spokesman says: "As an agency with high accountability standards and a strict code of conduct, we take these matters very seriously and will work with the Office of Inspector General in any review it may undertake."
