(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A north suburban company has created makeup for people that have had problems using traditional beauty products.

"So many people for so many years couldn't use any skin care or makeup products, including me, because it will give them breakouts. So, I decided to change that," said Dr. Liia Ramanchandra, the founder of Epilynx.

Ramachandra has psoriasis and gluten sensitivity.

"A lot of makeup and skin care had wheat in there, gluten, but also a lot of other allergens, such as soy and coconut oil," she said.

She left her career at a pharmaceutical company to start Epilynx in Libertyville, where she and her husband, an immunologist, test and make skincare and beauty products free of allergens.

"We don't use more than 20 ingredients. We really only use ingredients that will do the work they are supposed to be doing for people with sensitive skin,” Ramachandra said.

Epilynx sells its products on its web site and through Amazon. It’s been a success commercially and personally, Ramachandra said.

"We have more than 10,000 customers. There's nothing more beautiful than receiving emails or calls from customers who are saying 'for 20 years I couldn't use anything and now I use your eye liners or your serums and I'm so happy,' so that's just amazing,” she said.
