(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – There was relief Friday at the Evanston synagogue where Judith Raanan is a member.

The 59-year-old Evanston woman and her 18-year-old daughter Natalie had been taken hostage by Hamas militants Oct. 7 during the group’s deadly incursion. They were released Friday.

Rabbi Meir Hecht of Chabad Evanston says the development is a miracle from God.

“Judith and Natalie are the most kind, giving, friendly generous souls," he said. "They're both artists and people that always want to be there for others."

Hecht said more answers to prayers are needed, referring to the dozens of other hostages that still remain in Gaza.
