EVANSTON (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - An Evanston woman faces charges for lying about an alleged kidnapping attempt.
18-year-old Tianna Young has been charged with disorderly conduct for a false police report, according to police. Over two weeks ago, on the afternoon of January 23, while walking to work on Fowler near Crain, she told police that two male suspects approached and grabbed her. She claimed that she fought back and was able to escape. At the time of reporting the alleged incident, Young provided a limited description of the suspects, telling police both suspects were wearing black ski masks, black clothing with one of them donning a gray sweatshirt.
Following a thorough investigation, police said detectives found circumstances that did not match with what Young had initially told law enforcement. She ultimately admitted to police that she fabricated the kidnapping attempt after detectives confronted her about the discrepancies.
Young was released from the police station after posting bond, police said.
