Chicago officials are looking into an incident that left a townhome damaged Monday night when bricks fell from a nearby building.
It happened on Chicago's West Side in the West Garfield Park neighborhood near Pulaski and Washington Boulevard. Officials said a number of bricks came loose from a nearby vacant building and crashed townhome and down onto the ground. In one case, bricks crashed through a bedroom ceiling of the townhome. No injuries were reported.
Neighbors said that vacant building has been a safety problem for some time. One man said, worst case scenario, his daughter and grandson could have been killed.
The Chicago Building Department is looking into the incident.
