ANTIOCH, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The family of a missing Antioch man has made an emotional appeal for help in finding him, and now there’s a $10,000 reward for information leading to 24-year-old Tommy Howe.

It was Jan. 22 when Tommy Howe was in a car accident near Libertyville, and since then, authorities said there’s been no trace of him, except his work cell phone which was found in the Old School Forest Preserve in Lake County.

Both parents of 24-year-old Tommy Howe choked back tears as they described their son: a magna cum laude graduate in chemical engineering; a “selfless person…the type of person who never wants anyone to feel excluded.”

Howe’s mother MaryMargaret Howe told reporters the family is afraid he may have sustained a head injury and that that’s why he cannot get back home.

“Tommy, if you see this and if you are confused, please know and remember how deep our love and care is for you and the strong bond our family has," his mother said fighting tears.

“Please call us if you can.  If you can’t, if you can’t, you can’t remember, you can’t remember the number, please [go to] any local authorities, wherever you are, police station, fire station, anyone if graciously waiting and willing to help you.”

The family said a disappearance like this is out of character for Tommy Howe.

Antioch Police said they’ve received more than 200 tips so far.

Howe was last seen traveling on foot while wearing a gray North Face jacket and jeans. He is described as a 5-foot-8 white male with brown hair and brown eyes.
