Family of missing Chicago man find his body in south suburbs

DIXMOOR (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The body of a missing Chicago man was found in south suburban Dixmoor Wednesday, and it was his relatives who discovered him.

Four days after he was last seen leaving his grandmother’s house in Englewood, relatives found 24-year-old Aaron Neal’s body near the Dixmoor Playfield.

Family friend Brandy Martin organized the search and spoke to CBS News Chicago.

“I’ve seen family members on the left side of the road running, and they were screaming, ‘We found him! We found him! We found him!’” Martin recalled.

She said it appears that he was shot in the back multiple times and shell casings were found on Thornton Road near Ashland, not far from where they discovered him.

Relatives honed in on that area after a fisherman found Neal’s phone.

Aliyaah Simons told CBS News Chicago she’s heartbroken that her brother Aaron Neal is dead.

“I’m sad that I’m never going to see my brother again,” she said.
