AURORA, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A family-owned vacuum sales and repair shop, which has been in the same location in Aurora for 38 years, is closing its doors for good on Saturday, but not because of the pandemic.

All Vac Co. owner Mike Golich, 63, said he decided to retire and move to South Carolina, even though business has been booming during the pandemic.

Golich worked at All Vac at 344 W. Indian Trail since 1982, when his dad opened the store.

Since the pandemic began, the store has never been busier, since more people are staying in and doing their own cleaning, he said.

"Customers started spreading the word that we were open all the time and we got busier and busier, unexpectedly but happily," Golich said. "A lot of the other vacuum cleaner stores were either closed or on appointment only."

Even so he admits he'll miss the business and the customers, some of whom have been going to All Vac since it opened.

"(People) have been coming everywhere... but it's been a pleasant experience," he said. "We did good."

He's having a party at the store on Saturday with pizza and beverages to thank his customers and celebrate his retirement, before he closes the doors for the last time.
