(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Now that the Biden Administration has set a Jan. 4 deadline for private companies with at least 100 workers to impose COVID vaccine mandates, a local expert on labor law has advice for employers and workers.
Jeremy Glenn, a labor and employment attorney with the Chicago law firm of Cozen O’Connor, said employees who have the option to get tested weekly for COVID rather than get vaccinated will likely have to pay for the tests themselves.
That can be expensive, he said.
Employers can limit the testing option to workers who qualify for such things as medical or religious exemptions, Glenn said.
Employees who work exclusively outdoors or remotely will not be subject to the new mandate, he said.
He urges employers to start working on their vaccination policies now. Two months isn’t much time for companies to meet the federal guidelines.
