(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Federal authorities have announced gun charges against three men who allegedly took part in a Calumet City shootout that left multiple people injured last summer.

The trio — Anthony Hayes, 24, of Dolton; 23-year-old Jamari Williams of Chicago and Reginald Daniels, 40, of Chicago — are accused of exchanging gunfire in a store parking lot on Aug. 9.

Hayes and Williams allegedly fired at Daniels, who was struck along with an unnamed companion. Daniels returned fire and wounded a nearby motorist, according to an indictment announced Wednesday.

In a subsequent search of Hayes’ residence, authorities say they discovered several firearms, including handguns used against Daniels. Hayes also had weapons that had been converted to illegal machine guns, prosecutors said.

All three men are in custody and charged with illegal possession of a firearm by felons, and Hayes faces additional charges for the fully automated guns, the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago said.
