(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Two Chicago men are facing federal charges -- and possible life in prison -- in connection with a South Side killing that prosecutors say was part of a murder-for-hire plot.

Federal prosecutors say 24-year-old Anthony Montgomery-Wilson and Preston Powell, 23, conspired with others to shoot 24-year-old Stephon Mack in exchange for money.

Mack was killed on Jan. 27, 2022, when two men emerged from a vehicle and opened fire outside the Youth Peace Center of Roseland near 111th and Eggleston.

A security guard was wounded.

Montgomery-Wilson and Powell (who is a wanted fugitive) are charged with conspiracy to use an interstate facility in the commission of a murder for hire. Wilson is also facing a separate firearm charge.
