(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — We've all heard of the proverbial cat-in-a-tree rescue, but how about ducks in a drain? That’s exactly what some far north suburban firefighters dealt with this week.

Antioch firefighters on Wednesday helped with a rescue at the high school after ducklings walking with their mom fell into a storm drain.

Fire Chief Jon Cokefair says a Good Samaritan rescued one. His firefighters got down to work to save the others.

Firefighters rescued the ducklings, but when they tried to reunite them with their mother, she turned on one of the rescuers, chasing him and amusing the other firefighters. They, of course, took pictures and posted them on the department's Facebook page.

“It was fun and everybody had a good laugh,” Cokefair said.
