(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — If you've seen a community fireworks event in the Chicago region, there's a good chance it was produced by Pyrotecnico Midwest.
Matt Peterson is the regional manager and creative director.
"There's fireworks that we produce all over the Chicagoland-area throughout the summer into fall," he tells WBBM Newsradio's Jim Gudas.
Pyrotecnico also produces regular fireworks shows at venues such as Six Flags, Guaranteed Rate Field and Navy Pier. Also, community groups will hire the company to put on shows at special events — not just the Fourth of July.
"A lot of these communities might have another event scheduled like an Oktoberfest in September or a Labor Day function or a late-August event," Peterson said.
He said fireworks displays are more popular than ever because of the COVID pandemic, with people looking forward to gathering again.
"They're fun for all to see, whether you're five or six years old or 60 or 70 years old. People generally are smiling when they're watching fireworks," Peterson said.
