CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Five people are under arrest after a shooting in the Englewood neighborhood Monday night.
Police were responding to a ShotSpotter notification on 59th and Ashland around 7:15 p.m. when someone in a vehicle opened fire on their marked squad.
Police said officers did not shoot back but arrested the five people in the vehicle when it crashed on that same block. Two of the people in that car had gunshot wounds, including one male who'd been shot in the chest. He was taken in critical condition to the University of Chicago Medical Center.
The other victim in the car had been shot in an arm. A third person was wounded in an arm, in the initial shooting that brought police to 59th and Ashland in the first place.
