CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- One of the proposals to buy Arlington Park is being organized by a former president of the racetrack.

Moving the horse stables currently on the west side of the property would make room for a 100 acre industrial park. The Daily Herald reported other plans proposed by Roy Arnold would include a hotel, retail space, and condos that he said is part of a push to get horse racing become a sustainable, long-term business model. The plan would also include adding slot machines and other gambling options.

Arnold left Arlington Park a decade ago, and now heads a hospitality investment organization called Endeavor Hotel Group.

According to the Daily Herald, he is gathering investors to submit a bid to Churchill Downs by the June 15 deadline.
