CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A former Chicago Police officer is accused by a woman of sexually assaulting her while he was on duty.
In May of 2023, a woman claimed while being booked at the 18th District Police Station for a shoplifting arrest that 32-year-old Officer Stephan Shaw made sexually explicit comments, touched her under and over her clothing and forced her to touch him.
Her attorneys claim this all happened in full view of others in the station. Shaw’s attorneys say there has been no evidence to prove the woman’s claims.
Shaw, who joined CPD in 2022, was arrested and relieved of his duties this week. He’s now charged with custodial sexual misconduct and official misconduct and faces up five years in prison if convicted.
The woman has also filed a pending federal civil rights lawsuit against Shaw.
