(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Former WBBM Newsradio Anchor Sherman Kaplan reflected on his time at the stations, including his restaurant reviews, celebrity interviews, and hosting the Noon Business Hour.

Kaplan joined WBBM in 1969 and spent decades at the anchor desk. Kaplan was maybe best known for his celebrity interviews.

In a conversation with Anchor Rob Hart, Kaplan recalled interviewing Tony Randall who was in the TV adaptation of “The Odd Couple.”

Randall said something like, “well that was a damn strange experience.”

“And I remember saying to him, this was live, and I said, ‘I think that's the first time I've ever had anybody use a profanity on the air,’” Kaplan recalled.

“To which he said to me, ‘No, blank, blank, blank.’ I just hear it, though, in the Tony Randall voice.”
