(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Clean clothes, and a healthy body. That's the focus of a free laundry event at Blue Kangaroo Coin Laundry in Joliet Tuesday.
"We're partnering with Blue Kangaroo Coin Laundry to provide free laundry for families this month,"said Dr. Lakshmi Emory, the Chief Medical Officer with Aetna Better Health of Illinois (ABHI).
Emory said ABHI will be offering free laundry, as well as free health screenings throughout Chicagoland with similar events through the end of the month.
"We look for areas where we have Medicaid members and other residents who are in need of services, so we bring things like screenings — screenings for COVID-19, screenings for HIV, vaccinations — all of those things to them at the laundromat, where it's convenient," Emory said.
"The books are about healthy eating and exercising. We try to make it a fun time to multitask for families."
ABHI will provide free laundry days to Illinois residents with meals, health services and activities for children.
The Joliet event will be held at Blue Kangaroo Coin Laundry, 607 E. Cass St., Joliet, Ill., 60432, on Tuesday, 1 – 5 p.m. Here are the remaining events:
