(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man Sunday night after he allegedly attacked a woman inside her Gurnee home.

Joshua Simmons, of Dublin, Ga., has been charged with felony counts of home invasion, domestic battery and trespassing.

The Lake County Sheriff’s office said they caught the 34-year-old after someone called 911 and said they had been FaceTiming with the victim when they saw a man behind her — and heard her scream before the call went dead.

Deputies found Simmons’ car near the woman’s home in unincorporated Gurnee and — with the help of their K9 Dax — located him hiding in another home. When he refused to surrender, the sheriff’s office said deputies released Dax, who bit Simmons in the arm. He gave up after that.

Simmons was taken to the hospital. The 36-year-old woman refused treatment. Dax did not require any medical treatment, either.
