SKOKIE (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - It’s been two weeks since the mass shooting that killed seven people and injured dozens of others in Highland Park, and today will be the final funeral.
37-year old Kevin McCarthy’s funeral is scheduled this afternoon in Skokie. He and his wife Irina were both killed during the Highland Park Independence Day Parade. Irina’s funeral was last week.
The couple left behind a two-year-old son, Aiden. A GoFundMe page set up for him has so far raised $3.25 million. Kevin McCarthy’s obituary describes him as a jubilant father, an exuberant husband, and the light of his parents’ lives. He’s also remembered as charming, mischievous and a generous friend.
