(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Thanksgiving road trip will cost a little more this year.

First, the good news. Gas prices have been going down after last month's price spike, which was due, in part, to last month's refinery shutdowns in Indiana and Ohio.

"We continue to battle myriad refinery kinks," said Gas Buddy dot com senior petroleum analyst Patrick DeHaan.

While gas prices have been going down, on average, drivers will pay more for gas this thanksgiving compared to previous years.

The price of oil has tumbled from record highs set in March and June. But DeHaan said refinery capacity is struggling to keep up with demand for gasoline.

"It's been less of a story about oil, which has been stuck between $85 and $90 a barrel, and more about a declining refining capacity over the last few years," DeHaan said.
