This week's Green Sense Minute features Eunice Jung, head of partnerships at the company Future, which has created a debit card that rewards sustainable low carbon purchases.
Jung explains how the "Future card" works.
"We have a cashback model, where you get 5% baseline for low-carbon goods and services, and what we define as 'low-carbon' at Future is falls under four large categories," Jung says. "The first one is we celebrate anything secondhand. So, if you bought something used, whether it's a car, a bike, books, clothing, you get 5% cash back. We also have other categories, including electric vehicle charging all across the U. S., public transit systems all across the U.S., and if you're a biker - an avid biker - any bike store, bike gear, tuning services, all qualify for 5%."
Jung also says the plan includes plant-based protein purchases.
