3-year-old girl killed, 3 others injured in DuSable Lake Shore Drive crash, CPD says

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A single-vehicle crash on DuSable Lake Shore Drive late Sunday morning left a 3-year-old girl dead and three other passengers hurt.

Chicago Police said the accident occurred shortly before 11:50 a.m., at 53rd and DuSable Lake Shore Drive near Hyde Park.

A 31-year-old man was driving a Chevy Malibu when he lost control, veered off the road and hit multiple objects.

Four passengers initially suffered injuries. A three-year-old girl and nine-month old baby girl were sent to Comer Children’s Hospital. The three-year-old later died. The baby has non-life threatening injuries.

A nine-year-old girl also suffered non-life threatening injuries. She was transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital.

The fourth passenger, a 25-year-old woman, was sent to the University of Chicago Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

A citation was issued to the driver for improper lane change, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
